History of Our Lady of Lourdes

On February 11, 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a 14-year-old girl, Bernadette Soubirous, at a grotto in Lourdes, France. She also told Bernadette to dig in a particular spot at the grotto, where water would soon flow and would become a sacred place where people make pilgrimages and travel far distant lands to pray and seek healing and peace from God.

Here at our St. Jude Shrine, we have a Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes for all to sit and pray with Mary!

May this place be a time of peace and also a time to pray, seeking Mary’s intercession and bringing our petition of need to her Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
