From the Pastor’s Desk: February 11th, 2024

As the year 2024 moves forward it is with great joy that St. Jude Church is in the midst of celebrating its 75th Anniversary! It was in 1949 when Bishop Thomas Molloy established St. Jude Church and appointed Rev. John Skelly as the pastor, which would be the beginning of what we have become: a beautiful, faith-filled community that continues to build upon the cornerstone of Jesus Christ.

Throughout this year we will recall the many memories and special moments of our history. If anyone has a memory they want to express please send them to [email protected] and we will put it in our bulletin. We will have ongoing events throughout the year commemorating our Church and its history. Let us begin our 75th Anniversary and continue the journey of faith with joy and love, thanking God for all his blessings upon us!

This week we begin the sacred season of Lent on Ash Wednesday. I encourage all of you to participate more deeply in these 40 days of prayer, penance, and almsgiving. This is an opportune moment for all of us to grow closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to envelop you by opening yourself up and surrendering more fully to the graces of God. This season of Lent is a gift for each of us to be transformed and become more Christ-like. This season of Lent is a time for conversion.

We will have the Stations of the Cross every Friday at 3:00 & 7:00. I want to thank our St. Jude Shrine Knights of Columbus and Rosarians for providing us with our traditional Friday Fish Fry at 5:00 – 7:00.

I want to also thank all of you for your financial support of St. Jude Church. Because of your generosity and charity, along with a disciplined budget we are able to remain debt free and have the security of providing the variety of services, whether it be liturgical, educational, and entertainment events. I also want to thank you for your charitable donations to our Parish Outreach. The families in need in our community have increased in recent years and it is through your giving that they are grateful and thankful. Blessings to you!

St. Jude, pray for us ~

Blessings,

Fr. Ryan
