In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the final judgment. He tells the blessed that they will be welcomed into His Father’s kingdom because, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” They questioned when they had done these things and Jesus answered:
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
Parish Outreach is one way that St. Jude strives to care for Jesus’ brothers and sisters in our community.
Through the generous donations of parishioners and other supporters of Outreach, St. Jude helps numerous people meet their basic daily needs. Parish Outreach’s goal is to empower those in need to help themselves.
All people who live within the parish boundaries are eligible for help in a number of areas including emergency food assistance, holiday meals and community referrals and information. (Proof of residence and income are required.)
The Outreach office is located behind the St. Jude Shrine (entrance on Hemlock St., just north of Neighborhood Rd.). Hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
